When my son started looking at colleges, I saw the pressure building. The rankings obsession. The fear that if you don't get into a "top 10" school, somehow life will be harder. I knew that wasn't true. So I built something to help shift our energy into finding the colleges where he'd actually thrive. If you are starting out, here is the guide I wrote for other families.
I used my college experience to explore. I followed interests I didn't fully understand at the time. My career has had a lot of pivots. Wrestling coach. Ad agencies. Tech startups. Each one came because I followed my passions and stayed open to what was next. Those detours became the foundation of a career I love.
I wanted my son to know that his path doesn't have to be straight to lead somewhere great. But I also wanted to help him find the right start. So I used AI to create personalized recommendations based on what mattered to him, not the U.S. News rankings. What began as a side project for my family turned into something bigger.
Now, I'm working with a small team of builders, counselors, thought leaders and families who believe the same thing: every student deserves guidance that's personal, accessible, and built around who they are — whether that leads them to Harvard, a hidden gem with the best marine biology program, or any other environment that's perfect for how they learn and grow.
That's why I built Admissions GPS. And why I'm sharing it with you now.
